6.3.19 – Skip energy drinks

Health tip

Sometimes we need that quick energy boost to get through the day and often times, rely on energy drinks to do so. Energy drinks have long become an alternative to coffee as it contains up to five times more caffeine in an effort to boost alertness, enhance metabolism and increase endurance. However, energy drinks can come with unpleasant side effects such as nervousness, irritability and rapid heartbeat. In addition, these beverages often contain high levels of taurine, a central nervous system stimulant, that raises blood sugar and can leave you feeling sluggish and foggy headed.
